Australian Saddles

An Australian saddle (Australian Stock saddle or an Aussie saddle) is basically a hybrid between an English saddle and a western saddle.  Australian settlers modified the hunting saddles to meet the needs of the cattle business in Australia. The result is a saddle that looks more like an English or Dressage saddle, but has a number of western saddle features

Our used Australian Saddles / Aussie saddles / Stock Saddles are great for long trail rides. Stirrups hang from the dressage position, fenders swing freely. The poleys are designed to keep you in that saddle in case of a spook or spin from your horse. When your thighs hit the poley, it shoots you back into the  saddle. Australian or Aussie saddles are much lighter in weight than Western saddles and usually require an Australian / Aussie girth. Some can be used with an english girth. Be sure to inquire which one you will need.
